League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) Movement for Responsible Fisheries (MOREFISH)

MOREFISH is the LMP’s Advocacy program for sustainable fisheries management which aims to build a broad constituency of dedicated and committed municipal mayors working together to maintain a balanced ecosystem through integrated coastal and fisheries resource management (CFRM).

MOREFISH activities:

• Build information database of all coastal municipalities at the LMP Secretariat
• Establish an LMP benchmarks to evaluate coastal municipalities’ level of performance in CFRM
• Document and promote CFRM Best practices
• Conduct island conferences to ventilate issues on CFRM
• Build alliances among coastal municipalities, between municipalities and NGAs, donors and NGOs
• Conduct relevant training for municipal mayors at the Mayors Development Center
• Re-launching the Search for Best CFRM Practices
• Convene the 2nd Coastal Municipalities Conference in 2009
