oneocean.org welcomes CEP-DENR-XI
Check out the latest addition to this web site - the homepage of the Coastal Environment Program of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources in Region XI (CEP-DENR-XI) - and learn about coastal management initiatives in southern Mindanao.

Features:

Philippine mangroves: Some potential new finds
There is, as yet, no consensus on the number of mangrove species occurring in the Philippines. Reported figures vary from 26 to 51, apparently because of differences in the distribution of species across the regions. The numbers are likely to change some more. Already, growing interest in mangrove studies has generated exciting - some still unconfirmed - reports of "new" mangrove species. This article lists some of these "discoveries".

Q&A: The artist as an environmental advocate
Singer/songwriter Jim Paredes (JP) and TV/movie personality/comedian Jon Santos (JS) speak about their environmental advocacy work and what it has come to them as artists.
