PD-57 Mayors of Coastal Municipalities of the Philippines Holds Conference in Manila

Mayors of coastal municipalities, govern of country's municipalities,
will be doing their share this Philippine Ocean Month by participating
in a conference, aimed at ensuring the survival and sustainability of
the country's seas. Last May 26-28 held at the Manila Midtown Hotel will
bring together over 800 mayors from coastal municipalities aroun the country
to plot a common course of action. Major issues to be tackled in particular
are eradicating poverty in coastal comminities, redefining food security in
the coastal settings, addressing jurisdictional issues in municipal waters,
inforcing coatal laws and financial opportunities for managing coastal resources.
LMP will host the event of the partnership with the DENR,GOLD, DA-BFAR,
OPAPE-NGO-PO, OPS AND USAID.
